RAPID CITY The Brookings Bobcats competitive cheer team finished in third place as they competed at the SDHSAA Class AA Competitive Cheer and Dance Meet at Summit Arena at The Monument on Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats finished with a total score of 278.5, finishing behind Class AA champion Harrisburg (292 points) and runner-up Sioux Falls Jefferson (285.5). Rapid City Central finished in fourth place with 273.5 points while Watertown and OGorman tied for fifth place with 272 points.
The Brookings dance teams also competed at the event. The Bobcats finished 15th in grand dance with a total score of 224.5 points, 13th in hip hop with 221 points and 10th in pom with 228 points.
Brandon Valley was the Class AA grand champion in dance with 292.5 points. Harrisburg was runner-up with 289 points. Yankton finished third with 279.5 points, Sioux Falls Washington finished with 272.25 points and Sioux Falls Jefferson had 263.25 points.
Harrisburg was the Class AA champion in hip-hop with a total of 289.5 points. Sioux Falls Washington was second with 26.5 points, Aberdeen Central finished third with 263.5 points, Sioux Falls Jefferson finished fourth with 263 points, and Sioux Falls Lincoln finished fifth with 260 points.
Brandon Valley finished first in jazz with 290.5 points. Harrisburg finished second with 288.5 points. Yankton finished third with 283 points, OGorman finished fourth with 260 points and Rapid City Stevens finished fifth with 259.5 points.
