Bobcats compete in five matches at East/West Tournament

The Brookings Bobcats headed west this past weekend, winning two of their five matches at the East/West Tournament.

The Bobcats are now 11-16 on the season and will host Pierre at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Friday

Spearfish 2, Brookings 0

SPEARFISH The Bobcats lost to the Spartans in straight sets, dropping the first set 25-19 and the second set 25-22.

Macy Even had 11 kills, 11 digs and an ace for the Bobcats. Rylee Thompson had five kills. Kymber Buys had 12 assists, an ace and five digs. Kamryn Streich had five assists and five digs. Logan Smidt had five digs. Morgan Norgaard had 10 digs.

Rapid City Central 2, Brookings 1

SPEARFISH The Cobblers took the first set 25-20, the Bobcats won the second set 25-21 and Rapid City won the rubber set 25-18.

Thompson led Brookings with 19 kills. She also had an ace. Even had nine kills and 15 digs. Buys had 20 assists. Streich had 14 assists, two aces and five digs. Norgaard had 24 digs. Smidt had six digs. Tess Burns had an ace.

Rapid City Stevens 2, Brookings 0

SPEARFISH The Raiders won both sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-20.

Thompson led Brookings with five kills. Streich had seven assists, a kill and four digs. Buys had six assists and an ace. Norgaard had two aces and 14 digs. Streich and Lydia Walker each had a block. Burns had two blocks.

STURGIS The Bobcats pulled off the sweep winning the first set 25-23 and the second set 25-19.

Even had eight kills and six digs. Thompson and Burns each had seven kills. Thompson also had six digs. Walker had five kills. Streich had 18 assists, an ace and nine digs. Buys had 13 assists, five digs and a block. Norgaard had 15 digs.

Brookings 2, Sturgis 1

STURGIS The Bobcats rebounded after losing 30-28 in the first set to win the last two sets by a score of 25-12.

Even had nine kills and five digs. Thompson had eight kills, three aces and four digs. Buys had six kills, 11 assists, two aces and five digs. Streich had 11 assists with three aces, nine digs and a block. Norgaard had 16 digs. Walker had three blocks. Burns also had a block.
