Bobcat cross country wraps up season at Class AA state meet

RAPID CITY The Brookings Bobcats cross country team wrapped up its season as it competed in the SDHSAA Class AA State Cross Country Meet at the Hart Ranch Camping Resort on Saturday morning.

Boys

The Bobcats finished in seventh place with a total of 214 team points. Sioux Falls Lincoln won the Class AA team title with 37 points while Rapid City Stevens finished second with 121 points. Sioux Falls Washington finished third with 151 points, Rapid City Central finished fourth with 166 points and Brandon Valley finished fifth with 175 points.

Jonathan Kahler was the top finisher for Brookings, placing 19th with a time of 16:50.25. Alex Diersen finished 28th with a time of 17:04.58 and Ernest Ting finished behind him, placing 29th with a time of 17:08.21.

Marco Springman finished 70th with a time of 18:12.80, Dylan Haar finished 74th with a time of 18:17.36 and Shane Harming finished 78th with a time of 18:22.13.

Sioux Falls Washingtons Cole Reilly won the individual championship with a time of 15:47.13. A trio of Lincoln teammates followed as Tyrus Needles finished second with a time of 15:48.12, Joseph Levesque finished third with a time of 15:55.76 and Aemil Nelsen finished fourth with a time of 16:05.63.

Ty Petrocco wrapped up the top five with a time of 16:13.99.

Girls

The Bobcats finished 17th at the meet, finishing with a total of 447 points.

Harrisburg won the Class AA team title with 48 points followed by runner-up Brandon Valley with 107 points. Sioux Falls Lincoln finished third with a score of 112 points, Spearfish finished fourth with 113 points and Pierre finished fifth with 150 points.

Maisie Mogard was the top finisher for Brookings, placing 68th with a time of 21:38.69. Josie Nold finished 85th with a time of 22:12.29 and Sophia Schmit finished 88th with a time of 22:30.20.

Jordyn Johnson finished 106th with a time of 23:34.59, Isabel Overby finished 109th with a time of 23:49.10 and Natalie Kahler finished 116th with a time of 24:25.70.

Harrisburgs Brianna Reilly won the Class AA individual title, finishing with a time of 17:29.80. Her teammate Hannah Genrich finished second with a time of 17:40.70.

OGormans Libby Castelli finished third with a time of 18:06.86, Spearfishs Peyton VanDeest finished fourth with a time of 18:30.56 and Pierres Emery Larson finished fifth with a time of 18:49.64.
