We all want the same things: good jobs, strong schools, affordable healthcare, and the freedom to live our lives without unnecessary government interference. Whether you identify as conservative, moderate, progressive, or something in between, we share common values values that make South Dakota strong.
As your District 7 House representative, I am committed to making sure those values are reflected in our policies, and I have an actionable plan to move us forward. Heres how Ill do it:
First, lets talk about healthcare: South Dakota ranks 41st in the nation for healthcare affordability, leaving many families to choose between paying the rent or getting the care they need. No one should have to make that choice. I will fight to lower healthcare costs by expanding access to affordable care and pushing for reforms that make it easier for small businesses to offer coverage to their employees. We also face a critical shortage of mental health resources, especially in rural areas. I will work to expand access to these vital services, so families arent left in crisis.
Education is another area where we must do better: South Dakota ranks near the bottom in teacher pay, which hurts not just our teachers but our children. As a state, we cannot thrive when our educators are underpaid and undervalued. I will fight for increased funding for public schools and ensure that teachers dont have to buy supplies out of their own pockets. Our kids deserve better, and so do our teachers.
We are also facing a workforce and housing crisis: South Dakotas small businesses the backbone of our economy are struggling to find workers, and many families cant find affordable housing. I will advocate for policies that invest in infrastructure and housing, providing affordable options for all families, and helping small businesses remain competitive by ensuring workers are paid fair, living wages.
The unchecked supermajority in Pierre has been more focused on scoring political points than addressing these real-life issues. While they pass laws that chip away at our personal freedoms and distract with culture wars, the people of South Dakota are left to fend for themselves. Its time we had leadership that listened to the concerns of hardworking people instead of pushing through policies that benefit out-of-state interests.
I believe in real South Dakota values: We take pride in hard work. We believe in fairness. We look out for our neighbors. But too often, these values are ignored by those in power. Im running to bring those values back to Pierre, and I will work across party lines to get things done for our community.
For small-business owners: I understand your frustrations. You feel overregulated, overtaxed, and underserved by politicians who dont understand the challenges you face. Ill fight to cut through the red tape and make it easier for businesses to thrive in South Dakota. Our economy can grow if we focus on local businesses, not just large corporations.
For working families: I know how hard it can be to make ends meet when wages stagnate and the cost of living rises. I will stand up for fair wages, affordable childcare, and better healthcare. When we invest in our workers, our whole community benefits.
I dont come from the world of politics. I come from the world of hard work.
As a nontraditional college student working toward my political science degree, Ive seen firsthand how our system can fail working families. Ive lived in communities where jobs are scarce and wages are low. Im running to change that.
My opponents have had their time in leadership, but South Dakota remains at the bottom in too many categories. Its time for fresh voices and new ideas. If youre tired of the same politicians making the same old promises, I ask for your support. Together, we can build a better future for District 7 and for all South Dakotans.
