HAYTI The Sioux Valley volleyball team lost a hard fought five-set match to Hamlin on Tuesday night on the road.
Hamlin took the first set 25-23, but the Cossacks evened things up with a 26-24 victory in set two. The Chargers then took a 2-1 lead with a 25-21 win but Sioux Valley forced a fifth set with a 25-21 victory of its own in the fourth set. In the winner take all fifth set Hamlin came away victorious with a 15-8 win.
Kaedyn Sapp led the Cossacks with 15 kills and 26 digs. Adison Renkly had 13 kills and 14 digs. Sunny Hesby had 31 assists and 12 digs. Caitlin Russell had 25 digs and Emma Gorvin had 17 digs and six service aces. Keyra Kruse had 10 kills and Machela Gerasch had seven assists.
The Chargers were led by Addison Neuendorf who had 22 kills and 23 digs. Addie Steffensen had 16 kills and 15 digs. Issie Steffensen had 48 assists and 19 digs. Jayci Trowbridge had 27 digs and Jo Steffensen had nine kills and 21 digs.
Sioux Valley dropped to 16-2 and hosts Arlington on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
