FAIRFAX, Calif. The South Dakota State mens golf team finished in 11th place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by Cal Tuesday at Meadow Club.
The Jackrabbits finished the three-round tournament with an 831 (-21) final tally. The team posted a 277 (-7) for the final round.
San Jose State set a new tournament record by recording a -56 final score, besting Pacific by just one shot to win the team title. San Jose State was paced by Zubair Firdaus, who won medalist honors with a tournament-record 23-under score.
The Jacks were led by Ty Kretz and Bryson Mercier, who tied for 34th place with 207 (-6) scorecards. Kretz posted a 68 (-3) for the second consecutive round. He had five birdies on the final day.
Tyler Seeling finished one shot behind the Jackrabbit leaders. He fired a 67 (-4) Tuesday for a 208 (-5) three-round score and t-41st finish. Seeling rolled in an eagle on hole one.
Blake Schaper and Jake Olson rounded out the lineup in a tie for 65th place (213, E).
The Jackrabbits are off until they open the spring slate at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate February 24-26 in Palm Desert, California.
