Bobcats lose to second-ranked Cavaliers in four sets

SIOUX FALLS The Brookings Bobcats fell to the Sioux Falls Jefferson Cavaliers in four sets on Tuesday night.

While the Bobcats couldnt win the match, they hung tough with the second-ranked Cavaliers after dropping the first set 25-11. Brookings bounced back to win the second set by a score of 26-24 but Jefferson put the finishing touches on the win with a 25-11 victory in the third set and a 25-19 victory in the fourth set.

Macy Even and Rylee Thompson tied for the team lead in kills with nine each. Arielle Ferrell and Kymber Buys also had four kills each for the Bobcats.

Buys had 12 assists while Kamryn Streich had 11 assists for Brookings.

The Bobcats had five service aces including two from Streich. Buys, Even and Morgan Norgaard each had an ace.

Norgaard led the way defensively with 17 digs. Even and Buys had nine digs each and Logan Smidt had eight digs.

The Bobcats had two blocks as a team. Lydia Walker had a solo block while Tess Burns and Even each had a block assist.

Brookings fell to 10-9 on the season with the loss and will return to action when they host Sioux Falls Washington on Oct. 15.
