Colman-Egan, Elkton-Lake Benton fall in volleyball

The Colman-Egan and Elkton-Lake Benton volleyball teams lost on Monday night in area action. The Hawks were swept by top-ranked Chester and ELB lost to Garretson in five sets.

Chester 3, Colman-Egan 0

CHESTER The No. 1 ranked Flyers won in straight sets and the scores were 25-19, 25-11 and 25-18.

The Hawks were led by Brynlee Landis who had 13 kills and 10 digs. Finley Luze had 10 assists and seven kills. Presley Luze had 15 digs and Kaylee Voelker had 12 assists.

Chester was led by Lily VanHal who had 23 assists and 12 kills. Jacy Wolf had 15 digs and 10 assists. Katelyn Schut had 11 kills. Grace Huntimer and Lexi Bauman each had 11 digs.

Colman-Egan dropped to 13-4 and hosts Bridgewater-Emery on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.

Garretson 3, Elkton-Lake Benton 2

ELKTON The Lady Elks fought back to force a fifth set on Monday night but came up short. Garretson took the first two sets 25-15 and 25-17. ELB rallied with wins of 25-22 and 25-20 in sets three and four before Garretson won the final set 15-11.

ELB was led by Andrea Renkly who had 24 kills and 12 digs. Charlie Thooft had 12 kills and Quinn Slegers had 14 digs. Malayha Slegers had 42 assists, three kills and eight digs.

Garretson was led by Aleah Wagner who had 21 kills and 16 digs. Bella Sysa had 18 kills and Tayler Benson had 18 digs. Addi Hove had 45 assists and nine kills. Nora Bonte had 11 digs.

ELB fell to 7-10 and plays at Deubrook Area on Thursday at 7 p.m.
