Brookings moves up to No. 1 in Class 11AA

The Brookings Bobcats moved to No. 1 in the Class 11AA South Dakota Media Football Poll on Monday.

The Bobcats received 18 of the 23 first-place votes as they improved to 5-1 over the weekend after beating Tea Area 29-22. Brookings will host No. 3 ranked Yankton (4-2) on Friday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.

Sioux Valley remained in second in the Class 11B poll. The Cossacks (6-0) received two of the 23 first-place votes after beating Flandreau 31-13 on Friday night. Winner received the other 21 first-place votes and remained at No. 1. The Cossacks play at Beresford on Friday at 7 p.m. and then will host No. 3 ranked Elk-Point Jefferson in the regular season finale on Oct. 18.

Elkton-Lake Benton sits at No. 3 in the Class 9AA poll. The Elks (6-0) won 42-0 against Garretson over the weekend and play at Deubrook Area on Friday at 7 p.m. Parkston received 20 first-place votes and stayed at No. 1. Hamlin picked up the other three first-place votes and is ranked second. The Elks and the Chargers will meet in the final game of the regular season in Elkton on Oct. 18.
