Cossacks girls cross country team wins Big Dakota Conference Meet

CHAMBERLAIN Sioux Valley cross country runner Maci Licht had a great afternoon, winning the girls race at the Big Dakota Conference, Garry Winter & Chamberlain Invite on Thursday.

Girls

Licht won the girls race at the event which helped Sioux Valley win the team title over Chamberlain and Kimball/White Lake, which each had a total of 21 points.

Licht finished with a time of 19:47, which easily defeated Chamberlains Grace Phillips, who finished second with a time of 20:14.

Liberty Trygstad finished ninth with a time of 21:26 while Amia Ward finished 17th with a time of 22:47. Ava Gatzke finished 21st with a time of 23:11; Amya Ward finished 36th with a time of 25:30 and Quynn Nielson finished 39th with a time of 26:27.
Platte-Geddes finished in fourth place with a total of 37 points while Stanley County finished fifth with 46 points.

Ethan/Parkstons Ella Pollreisz finished third with a time of 20:38; Burkes Sophia Bauld finished fourth with a time of 20:58; and Berklee Mills of Platte-Geddes finished fifth with a time of 21:03.

Boys

The Cossacks finished in second place with 32 points at the event, finishing behind first-place Philip, which had 12 points.

Carson Wosje was the top finisher for Sioux Valley, placing third with a time of 18:18. Tyrus Schultz finished 12 for the Cossacks with a time of 19:30 and Bret Milton finished 21st with a time of 20:20.

Levi Axtell finished 27th with a time of 20:40 and Dubhlainn Vermeulen finished 34th with a time of 21:07.

Miller finished third as a team with 42 points and Platte-Geddes and Kimball/White Lake tied for fourth place with 48 points.
Millers Pierce Baumberger won the boys race with a time of 17:57.

Philips Jack Peterson finished second with a time of 18:14. Philips Baylor Burns (18:24) and Garretsons Carter Siemonsma (18:27) rounded out the top five.
