SIOUX FALLS The Brookings Bobcats split a doubleheader with OGorman on Thursday night. The girls soccer team defeated the Knights 3-2 while the boys soccer team lost by a score of 1-0.
The Bobcats will return to action when they host Sioux Falls Jefferson for a doubleheader at the Fishback Soccer Complex beginning next Thursday at 4 p.m.
Girls
Brookings 3, OGorman 2
The Bobcats picked up their third straight win with a 3-2 victory in the first game of Thursdays doubleheader.
OGorman scored 2:30 into the game to take the early lead but Brookings answered when Tori Deming scored in the seventh minute. Grace Romsa gave the Bobcats the lead with an assist from Rylee Briggs with 19:23 left in the first half and Lexi Erp scored with an assist from Shae Lefers with 14:51 remaining in the first half to give Brookings a 3-1 lead at halftime.
Addison Dougherty scored for OGorman with 11:59 left in the game but Brookings was able to hang on to improve to 3-7-1 on the season.
Aubrey Knutzen, Deming and Romsa each had a shot on goal for the Bobcats in the win.
Boys
OGorman 1, Brookings 0
The Bobcats dropped their second straight game, falling to OGorman in a tight 1-0 loss in the nightcap.
Tony Nguyen made eight saves for Brookings. The Bobcats had two corner kicks in the game.
Forest Giard had three shots with a shot on goal. Keller Peterson had two shots with a shot on goal. Braylon Peters and Seth Vogt each had a shot. Vincent Iyelli had a shot on goal.
The Bobcats now have a record of 5-4-2 on the season.
