WESSINGTON The Arlington Cardinals were swept in their season opener on Tuesday night, falling to the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds in straight sets. The Lady Warbirds won all three sets by a score of 25-18.
Jaelyn Huntimer led the Cardinals with 12 kills. Halley Miller had eight kills and Rachel Steffensen had seven kills.
Sony Johnson led Arlington with 30 assists while Huntimer had a team-high 15 digs. Madi Bacon had 12 digs and an ace. Johnson also had a block for the Cardinals.
Timber Haeder led W-W with nine kills while Kendal Uttecht had 33 assists. Shae Uttecht had a team-high 15 assists while Samara Clemente had four aces.
The Cardinals will return to action when they travel to Colman-Egan on Sept. 3.
