COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. South Dakota State had its chances but couldnt put the ball in the back of the net as the Jackrabbits fell to the Colorado College Tigers 1-0 on Thursday night.
The loss dropped the Jacks to 1-2 on the season ahead of Saturdays game at Wyoming.
SDSU put the pressure on early, out-shooting the Tigers 13-3 but only one of their shots landed on goal. The Tigers survived the early barrage and evened things out in the second half before Kendall Memoly from Alexis Wessler at 65:32.
Memoly would pick up a yellow card at 76:31 but SDSU couldnt capitalize as a shot by Katherine Jones missed high left. Kaycee Manding missed high left at 86:21 and Avery Murdzek missed a shot high at 86:59 as the Tigers held on for the victory.
The Jacks out-shot the Tigers 21-9 in the game but Colorado College had five shots on goal compared to two for SDSU.
Avery Murdzek had four shots and on shot on net for the Jacks while Hailee Christensen had three shots. Jones had two shots while Manding and Laney Murdzek each had one shot.
Memoly, Emily Hitt, Alexis Wessler, Alex Sandoval, Tyler Rose and Finley Schoenbeck each had a shot for Colorado College. Hitt, Memoly, Wessler, Sandoval and Schoenbeck each had a shot on goal.
Emma Knack made three saves for SDSU. Regan Wallace made two saves for Colorado College.
