Chase McDaniel, Henry Hammrich named to All-Amateur Tournament Team

Two members of the Brookings Cubs were honored as Chase McDaniel and Henry Hammrich were named to the 2024 South Dakota Amateur All-Tournament Team on Thursday afternoon.

McDaniel was hot at the plate during the tournament, going 8-for-14 with a double, a home run, a walk, five RBI and a run scored in three games.

Hammrich also hit well, hitting 5-for-12 with a double, a home run, a walk, five runs scored and a stolen base.

Brookings finished the year with a record of 15-7 and advanced to the second weekend of the Class A Tournament before being eliminated in a 13-6 loss to the Sioux Falls Brewers on Aug. 16.

Renners David Borchardt was named the tournament MVP for the state-champion Monarchs and was joined by Jaxon Rosencranz, Jeremiah Mauch and Ryan Hander.

Other members of the team included Bryce Ahrendt, Jacob Glovich, Sam Baier and Sam Siegel of the Brewers; Andrew Hills of the Black Hills As; Casey Vining and Chad Ellingson of Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar; Joe Gokie and Lukas Kampshoff of the Yankton Tappers; and Seth Peterson, Stuart Baruth and Zach Dibble of the Sioux Falls Squirrels.

The Class B team included Jaxon Hennies of the Elk Point Colt 45s; tournament MVP Drew Sweeter, Brayden Pankonen, Heith Williams, Riley Hoffman and Trey Randel of Dell Rapids PBR; Dom Boeger of the Milbank Fire Chiefs; Derek and Justin Miller of the Canova Gang; Gus Steiger of the Castlewood Ravens; Jonny Lyons of the Kimball/White Lake Nationals; Michael Schoettmer of the Alexandria Angels; Logan Larsen of the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks; Trevor Kenobbie of the Wessington Springs Owls; Brad Hand of Four Corners; Robin Chute and Dustin Steckler of the Garretson Blue Jays; Reed Harter and Connor Hopkins of the Winner/Colome Pheasants; Keaton Grevengoed of the Larchwood Diamonds; Jason Schmidt Sam Pischke and Phil Johnson of the Dimock/Emery Raptors; and Sheldon Gant, Michael Buitenbos, Hunter Hewitt and Grant Doom of the Platte Killer Tomatoes.
