VOLGA The Sioux Valley Blue boys golf team came in first place at the Sioux Valley Invite at Meadow Creek Golf Course on Monday.
The Blue team finished with a team score of 318 to take home the title. The Sioux Valley Gold team finished in sixth place after shooting a score of 360.
Tate Steffensen led the way for the Cossacks as he won the individual tournament with a score of two-under par. Jameson Degan came in fourth with a score of three-over. Damon Uecker finished in 17th (+14) and Maverick Nelson came in 19th (+15). Patrick Quale came in 30th (+22) and Nathan Larson rounded things out for the Blue team, coming in 32nd (+23).
Trentyn Schmit was the top finisher for the Sioux Valley Gold team as he came in 10th (+10). Landon Hanssen came in 16th (+12) and Barrett Cotton finished in 26th (+20). Gavin Loy and Isiah Hemmestad finished in 39th (+30) and 40th (+31), respectively. Kellon Tucker came in 44th (+32).
Aberdeen Roncalli came in second as the Cavaliers shot a 321 as a team. Groton finished in third (322) and Milbank came in fourth (326). Madison rounded out the top five (345).
Milbanks Jonathon DeBoer came in second after shooting an even par. Madisons Braylon Oftedal came in third (+2) and Grotons Brevin Fliehs finished in fifth (+4).
The Cossacks will hit the course again today at the Madison Invitational. They will also play in the Milbank Invite on Thursday. Both tournaments are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
