BROOKINGS COUNTY A freight train is, as of 1:45 p.m. Friday, blocking the rail crossing on U.S. Highway 14 between Brookings and Volga.
Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring with the Brookings County Sheriffs Office said theres little the sheriffs office can do, but that it does have a deputy in the area helping with traffic flow.
Calls to Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern railroad representatives on Friday afternoon went to voicemails.
