Brookings Osher Lifelong Learning Institute invites the public to join its ssummer social to learn about OLLI and the variety of fall courses offered from September through November.
The community gathering will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 8 at Forte of Brookings, 2123 Tallgrass Parkway.
There will be root beer floats and cookies, drawing for door prizes (including one free fall semester), OLLI information session and featured speaker Jennifer Widman, South Dakota Humanities council director of the Center for the Book and Festival of Books. The public is also invited to take a tour of the Forte complex after the social.
You need not be a member to attend. So, please come and bring a friend! Enjoy the refreshments and fellowship while learning about OLLI, said Dianne Hawks, Brookings curriculum committee chair. There are many interesting classes to take this fall plus the benefits of fun social interactions when you become an OLLI member.
Although being geared towards retired or semi-retired individuals, OLLI welcomes adults of all ages to become members. Inquisitive and active adults are brought together in their communities to engage their minds and senses by continued learning for the love of it. There are no tests or grades; just fun and attaining knowledge of the world around you.
