ABERDEEN Nine swimmers from the Brookings Swimming Club competed at the South Dakota Long Course State B Swim Meet last weekend, placing two swimmers in the top five of their respective divisions.
Girls
Kaylie Kuehl finished first in the girls age 15-16 division, finishing with 109 points on the back of three first-place finishes. Kuehl finished first in the 1500-meter freestyle with a time of 23:30.80, the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 3:05.64 and the 100-meter freestyle of 1:14.29.
Kuehl also had a pair of second-place finishes in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:47.82 and the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 3:25.49.
Kendall Schmit brought home a pair of first-place finishes for Brookings in the age 13-14 division. Schmit finished with a time of 3:19.70 in the 200-meter breaststroke and 11:12.51 in the 800-meter freestyle. Schmit also finished fifth in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 3:31.39.
Elle Humphrey competed in the age 11-12 division and finished fourth in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:43.84. Humphrey also finished fifth in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 36.49 seconds.
Cora Kurtenbach finished in fifth place in the age 13-14 50-meter freestyle with a time of 39.85 seconds.
Boys
Brenden Kuehl placed fifth for Brookings in the age 9-10 division with a total of 83 points. Kuehl finished first in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:48.01, second in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 7:25.70 and had a pair of third-place finishes in the 100-meter butterfly (2:11.05) and the 50-meter butterfly (54.55 seconds).
