ST. LOUIS A total of 75 South Dakota State football student-athletes were honored Thursday for their work in the classroom as members of the 2023 Missouri Valley Football Honor Roll.
Headlining the list of Jackrabbit award winners were four graduating seniors who were recognized with the Presidents Council Academic Award, which is the leagues highest academic achievement. Receiving that award from SDSU, which requires a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average through fall 2023 and participation in athletics for at least two years, were Brady Beck, Jharett Bloomenrader, Jaxon Janke and Caden Johnson.
Of SDSUs 75 Honor Roll selections, 30 also qualified for the Commissioners Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum GPA of 3.2 for the previous two semesters (freshmen are not eligible). Honor Roll selections are determined by a 3.0 GPA or higher during the fall semester.
League-wide, 50 student-athletes received the Presidents Council Academic Award, 318 were honored with the Commissioners Academic Excellence Award and more than 700 earned Honor Roll recognition.
