Richard Rick Platt, 67, formerly of Brookings, SD. Loving husband, dad, grandpa and brother, passed away surrounded by family on May 18, 2024, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Preceded in death by parents, Harold and Nola; brother, David; niece, Liza. Survived by loving wife of 45 years, Nancy; children, Heather (Cameron) Anderson, Stephanie, Brendan (Heather Holida); grandchildren, Kalyn, Saige, Alex, Piper, Ellie, Ayden; siblings, Larry, Jim (Shelly), Linda (Larry) Mitchell; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Rick graduated from Deubrook High School in 1976. In 1980 he started his career at 3M in Brookings and worked there for 41 years until his retirement in 2021. He was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the Twins, Vikings and SDSU Jackrabbits. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, from 2-4 p.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Feel free to come in Vikings, Twins, or SDSU attire.
