BROOKINGS COUNTY A pair of alcohol compliance checks on June 10-11 of 18 businesses found three that sold booze to an underage buyer, according to a Wednesday news release from the Brookings County Sheriffs Office.
The businesses that failed were:
- Skyview Junction in Elkton (June 10)
- Valley Mart in Volga (June 10)
- Los Tapatios in Volga (June 11)
The businesses in question made underage sales to a 19-year-old buyer, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote in the release. He added that a year ago, in June 2023, two businesses failed an alcohol compliance check.
According to the South Dakota Department of Revenue, fines and penalties can be imposed on licensees, clerks and those who furnish alcohol to underage individuals. Complete details can be found online athttps://tinyurl.com/ytr9dejf.
