BROOKINGS The Boys & Girls Club of Brookings hosted its 14th annual truck raffle event on May 22 at the club.
Along with the drawing of the 2024 raffle winners, the community was invited to enjoy a family friendly event that included a free hog roast meal, games, bouncy houses, face painting and entertainment from Chad Madsen and B-town Bubbles.
The 2024 truck raffle grand prize a 2023 Ram 1500 Tradesman Crew Cab 4×4 winner was Rocky Dailey. The two winners of the $1,000 runner-up cash prizes were David Erickson and Angela Sik.
The annual truck raffle is the largest Boys & Girls Club fundraiser of the year, raising a net $90,000 to go directly toward serving youth at the club and ensuring access to a safe building, free daily snacks and meals, enrichment programming, and caring adult staff remains affordable at a low-cost annual membership fee of $25.
This fundraiser, along with the generous annual contributions from individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout the years, has allowed the club to grow from serving 100 members in 2003 to serving over 1,800 youth age 3 through 12th grade annually in outcome-driven programs in the priority areas of academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character and leadership.
Club leaders expressed gratitude to all who joined in the celebration at the club and made the event one to remember and to Bel Brands, Einspahr Auto Plaza, Dacotah Bank, Hy-Vee and other raffle sponsors.
