CLEAR LAKE On May 2, American-led clean energy developer Invenergy presented $50,000 in scholarships to graduating Deuel High School students through combined efforts with Jim and Linda Dailey and Greg and Darla Toben, participating landowners of Invenergys Deuel Harvest Wind Energy Center (and fellow organizers of the Invenergy Deuel School Scholarship Program).
Invenergy contributed $30,000 of the $50,000 awarded, continuing its annual support of the program. Over the past four years, Invenergy has provided $120,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors.
Invenergy, together with the Daileys and Tobens, started the Invenergy Deuel School Scholarship Program in early 2021 to provide $30,000 in annual scholarships to support graduating seniors with pursuits of continued education. All high school graduates from the Deuel School District are eligible and past recipients have used the funding to pursue higher education in programs within the medical field, engineering, wind energy maintenance, and various other fields of study.
I believe any industry coming into a new community that wants to be accepted and truly be a part of that community, should contribute in some way to that community,” said Jim Dailey.
The Invenergy Deuel School Scholarship has been instrumental in assisting our students, particularly those with financial constraints, to access higher education, said Deuel High School Career Adviser Leslie Larson-Cutshaw. By extending support beyond the freshman year, it has facilitated continued academic pursuits for many. We appreciate the scholarships contribution and hope for its continued provision to support future students.
Invenergy is dedicated to supporting youth programming and education in its partnering communities and will continue to support the scholarship program every year for the life of the project. Invenergy also plans to continue adding to the scholarship fund with its second phase of the wind project, South Deuel Wind Project, anticipated to reach commercial operations in 2027.
Invenergy continues to work with farmers and ranchers to harvest clean, affordable wind power, investing millions in additional economic benefits to Deuel County while continuing to support community programming and education in its local communities. In addition to the Deuel Harvest Wind Energy Center and the South Deuel Wind Project in Deuel County, Invenergy is excited to continue supporting local communities throughout the Midwest with the development of other projects.
