SIOUX FALLS Five Brookings athletes placed on the first day of the SDHSAA State Class AA Track & Field Meet on Thursday afternoon.
Logan Smidt finished fourth in the girls javelin throw, recording a toss of 118 feet and 10 inches in the finals.
The Bobcats boys 4×800 meter relay team also made the podium as Nathan Smith, Ernest Ting, Trevin Lounsbury and Jon Kahler finished with a time of 8:19.95.
The State Meet will conclude at Howard Wood Field with the finals in each event on Friday.
