Robert Bob Bertelsen

Robert Bob Bertelsen, 62, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at his residence in Volga, SD.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Volga, SD. Visitation will be held the night prior from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at Rudes Funeral Home in Brookings, SD.
Robert Bob L. Bertelsen was born on April 10, 1962, in Volga, SD, the son of Soren and May (Jonker) Bertelsen. He was raised in Volga, SD, attending and graduating from Sioux Valley High School in 1980. Bob married Beverley Molengraaf and to this union, two children were born; Bridget and Robert.
The two kids were Bobs biggest accomplishment. He was always so proud of them and what they have achieved in their careers and lives.
Bob worked at Rainbow Play Systems for a number of years before taking his career to Cross Road Centers.
He worked for a number of farmers growing up and started farming part-time on his own in 2012. If there was one thing Bob taught his children, it was a good work ethic. In his free time, Bob could be caught fishing or hunting. He enjoyed being outdoors being a sportsman. Bob could be described as laid back and calm but was willing to do anything for his family, family always came first. He especially enjoyed his granddaughter, Amelia.
Bob is survived by his children, Bridget (Mark) Ver Mulm of Volga, SD and Robert Bob Jr, Bertelsen of Brookings, SD; siblings, S. Howard Bertelsen of Volga, SD, Irene (Vern) Olson of Volga, SD, Ilene Bertelsen of Sioux Falls, SD and Sylvia (George) Heinrich of Coon Rapids, MN; granddaughter, Amelia Ver Mulm; nephew, Jared Bertelsen; nieces, Jennifer Oines and Amy Lower and many other cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Soren and May (Jonker) Bertelsen.
