Victoria J. Nissen

Victoria J. Nissen, 69, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 24,2024, at Rudes Funeral Home in Brookings, SD.
Victoria Jean Liebsch was born on November 25, 1954, in Volga, SD, the daughter of Donald and Jean (Laubach) Liebsch. She grew up in Brookings, SD, and attended and graduated from Brookings High School in 1973. Victoria, soon after, met the love of her life, Bernie Nissen. They were united in marriage on February 18, 1977 in Watertown, SD. To this union, four children were born; Lane, Nicole, Chris and Kelli.
For over 25 years, Victoria worked for Daktronics in Brookings, SD. She worked a number of various jobs under them until retiring in 2011. Victoria and Bernie lived on Lake Poinsett for 26 years before just recently moving to Watertown, SD. She enjoyed the lake activities like fishing and swimming but especially enjoyed the sunsets at the end of the day. Victoria also enjoyed planting and working on her flowers in her pass time. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Victoria was a Christian woman and follower of Christ. She was such a happy, kind-hearted and witty person. Victoria was truly a joy to spend time with and be around, always making you smile. She will be missed by many.
Victoria is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bernie Nissen; her children, Lane (Stefanie) Nissen of Spokane, WA, Chris (Dove) Nissen of Sioux Falls, SD and Kelli Jo (George) Theron of Watertown, SD; grandchildren, Kyla Moore, Jordan Nissen, Cole Tarbart, Aaron Tarbart, Connor Dreher, Makenzie Dreher, Cody Cunningham, Paityn Nissen, Gerrhett Nissen, Julian Crawford, Shayla Brownell, Gavin Brownell, Colin Brownell, Aidynn Nissen, Ashlynn Nissen and Andre Theron; Siblings, Gary (Karen) Liebsch, Mary (Brad) Kragh, John (Kim) Liebsch, Teri Jo (Mike) Fergen, Thomas (Coleen) Liebsch, Patrick (Leanne) Liebsch; great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Steve Nissen and sister-in-law Helen Nissen along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jean (Laubach) Liebsch and her daughter, Nicole Dreher.
