Bobcats come in 12th at State Tournament

RAPID CITY The Brookings boys tennis team finished in 12th place in the State Tournament in Sioux Falls on Friday.

The Bobcats had five matches in the consolation bracket on Friday and lost all of them.

No. 13 seeded Carson Kreie faced Brandon Valleys Lucas Fogarty in the No. 3 singles flight consolation semifinals and lost 10-2. Xavier St. Pierre, who was the No. 12 seed in the No. 4 flight and lost to No. 9 seeded Carter Kemmis of Sioux Falls Jefferson 10-6. Zachary Mueller was the No. 10 seed in the No. 5 flight and fell to No. 11 Kyan Kemmis of Sioux Falls Jefferson 10-5.

In the No. 1 doubles flight Kreie and Braylon Peters were the No. 12 seed and lost to No. 9 seeded Dayler Segrist and Max Phares of Rapid City Stevens 10-4. Mueller and Andrew Hahn were the No. 12 seed in the No. 3 doubles flight and lost to Austin Sordrager and Eli Boyd of Sioux Falls Washington 10-5.

Rocky McKenzie of Sioux Falls Lincoln defeated Chase Rima of Sioux Falls Washington 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles flight. Drew Gohl of Lincoln took down Harold Mayer of Washington in the No. 2 flight 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Lincolns River Mckenzie beat OGormans Johnny McDowell 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 flight and Lincolns Christopher Tao topped OGormans Liam Sarmiento in the No. 4 flight.

OGormans Samuell Hayden beat Yanktons Miles Krajewski 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 in flight No. 5 and Lincolns Connor Husser defeated OGormans August Jackson in the No. 6 flight. In the No. doubles flight Rocky McKenzie and Gohl of Lincoln beat Harold Mayer and Rima of Washington 6-3, 6-4. River Mckenzie and Ronan Hartwig of Lincoln took down Brayden Rausch and Cooper Rott of Harrisburg 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 in the No. 2 doubles flight. In the No. 3 doubles flight it was Lincolns J Husser and C Husser defeating Hayden and Jackson of OGorman 6-1, 6-1.

Lincoln won the team championship with 555.5 points. OGorman came in second (428) and Washington finished in third (383.5). Yankton came in fourth (273) and Harrisburg rounded out the top five (264).
