South Dakota State needs a new swimming pool

I was thrilled to see SDSUs Blue & Gold fundraising from 31,000 different donors surpassed its goal, reaching $604,345,119. It was the third fundraising campaign in 30 years and addresses scholarships, faculty needs and endowments.

In the April 24 SDSU Collegian, I read the article about SDSUs Olympian swimmer, Denilson Cyprianos. He will head to Paris this summer representing his home country of Zimbabwe in the Olympic Games. He holds many school records here at SDSU. Swimming is part of the SDSU athletic programs. The SDSU pool is the original, its old and needs to be shut down occasionally for repairs. The seating to watch a world-class athlete leaves something to be desired.

Im hoping the SDSU pool and swimming sport gets the attention and funding it deserves.
