BRANDON The Brookings softball team dropped to 3-2 on the season as the Bobcats fell to Brandon Valley 5-1 on Monday night.
It was a defensive battle as the two teams combined for just eight hits. Brandon Valley jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings. The Lynx scored two runs in the first inning on a single and then added two more runs later in the inning on an error. They added one more run in the second inning on a double.
Brookings only run of the game came in the sixth. Kylie Moe walked with one out and came around to score on a single from Kymber Buys.
Moe was 1-for-2 and Tess Burns was 1-for-3. Buys was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Burns pitched the first inning and two thirds. She gave up five runs, four earned, on three hits with three walks and one strikeout. Moe pitched the final four and a third innings and she gave up no runs on two hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
Brookings hosts Sioux Falls Lincoln on Thursday at 4 p.m.
