BROOKINGS The Week of the Young Child is April 6-12 and the Childrens Museum of South Dakota is celebrating young children and their teachers, families and communities.
As advocates for the growth and development of young minds, the museum is hosting a week filled with activities that celebrate the importance of nurturing childrens potential during their formative years.
Play is essential for childrens cognitive, emotional, and social development providing a foundation for problem-solving, creativity, and relationships, said Kati Hanson, director of education and guest experience. It is crucially important for communities to create a sense of place for young children where they are free to explore and where they feel seen and heard.
In addition to open-ended exploration in the museums exhibits, story times, activities, art projects, and classes will fill the week.
