Two Sioux Valley players were honored on the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association All-State boys teams.
Alec Squires was named to the First Team and Maxwell Engebretson was named to the Third Team in Class A.
CLASS A
First Team
Alec Squires Sioux Valley, Senior Center
This was his second All-State selection as he was on the Second Team last season. Squires averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game this season. He shot 70% from the field this year and led the Cossacks to a 23-3 record and Sioux Valley won the consolation championship at the Class A State Tournament in Rapid City.
Jaxson Wingert Dakota Valley, Senior Forward
Wingert averaged 27.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season. He led the Panthers to a 22-4 record and a third place finish at the Class A State Tournament.
Griffen Goodbary Sioux Falls Christian, Junior Forward
Goodbary averaged 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 blocks per game this season. The Chargers finished 25-1 and lost in the State championship game.
Marvin Richard III Pine Ridge, Sophomore Guard
Richard averaged 23.8 points, 4.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds per game and 2.3 steals. Pine Ridge was 22-3 on the season and lost in the consolation championship at the State Tournament.
Lane Tietz Groton Area, Senior Guard
Tietz averaged 21.2 points, 3.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. The Tigers went 20-6 this year and came in seventh place at State.
Easton Neuendorf Hamlin, Junior Guard
This was his second All-State selection as he was on the Third Team last year. Neuendorf averaged 15.1 points, 7.1 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game this year. He helped lead the Chargers to a 23-3 record and a State championship victory.
Second Team
Porter Ihnen Lennox, Senior Guard
This was the third All-State selection for Ihnen as he was on the Second Team in 2022 and the First Team last year. Ihnen averaged 20.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Lennox finished 14-8 and lost in the Region 4A Semifinals.
Tyson Stevenson Hamlin, Senior Guard
Stevenson averaged 15.1 points, and 3.0 rebounds per game. This was Stevensons second All-State selection as he was on the Third Team last year.
Jack Henry Dell Rapids, Senior Guard
Henry averaged 20.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this year. The Quarriers went 17-6 this season and lost in the SoDak 16.
Luke Bruns Dakota Valley, Junior Guard
Bruns averaged 18.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Matthew Anderson Canton, Senior Forward
Anderson averaged 21.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Canton went 12-9 this season and lost in the Region 4A quarterfinals.
Julius Frog Rapid City Christian, Junior Forward
Frog averaged 15.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Rapid City Christian went 21-5 this season and lost in the third place game at the State Tournament.
Third Team
Maxwell Engebretson Sioux Valley, Senior Guard
Engebretson averaged 16 points, 6.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game this season.
Jack Erickson Baltic, Senior Forward
Erickson averaged 21.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He helped lead the Bulldogs to a 14-8 record and they lost in the Region 3A semifinals.
Benson Kieffer Rapid City Christian, Junior Guard
Kieffer averaged 15.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game this year.
Shawn Hammberbeck Winner, Junior Center
Hammberbeck averaged 15.5 points and 10.8 rebounds. The Warriors went 17-5 this year and lost in the Region 7A semifinals.
Jayce Slaba Hanson, Senior Guard
Slaba averaged 20.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Hanson went 14-9 this year and lost in the SoDak 16.
Carvin Fish Tiospa Zina, Senior – Guard
Fish averaged 22.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He led the Wambdi to a 14-8 record and they lost in the Region 1A semifinals.

Nicolas Marshall White River, Senior Guard
This is the second All-State selection for Marshall as he was on the Third Team last year. He averaged 26.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game this season. He helped lead the Tigers to a 22-4 record and a fourth place finish at the Class B State Tournament.
Byron Laue Castlewood, Junior Center
Laue averaged 15.5 points and 11.2 rebounds this season. This was his second All-State selection as he was on the Second Team last year. Castlewood went 22-4 this year and came in third place at State.
Nic Hanson Viborg-Hurley, Junior Center
Hanson averaged 23.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. He helped lead the Cougars to a 19-7 record and a seventh place finish at State.
Tage Ortman Canistota, Senior – Guard
This was Ortmans second All-State selection as he was on the Third Team last year. He averaged 23.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game. Canistota went 15-6 this season and lost in the Region 3B quarterfinals.
Jackson Schauer Faith, Senior Guard
This was the second All-State selection for Schauer. He was on the Second Team last year. Schauer averaged 25 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists this year. He helped lead the Longhorns to a 19-4 record and they lost in the SoDak 16.
Kolt Koepsell Howard, Senior Center
Koepsell averaged 14.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He led the Tigers to a 23-3 record and a state championship
Second Team
George Jensen De Smet, Senior Forward
Jensen averaged 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. The Bulldogs went 22-4 this year and fell in the state championship game.
Layne Cotton Faulkton Area, Senior – Forward-Guard
Cotton averaged 26 points, 10 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game this year. He helped lead the Trojans to a 15-6 record and they lost in the Region 6B semifinals.
Daniel Mitchell – Gregory, Senior – Forward
This was the third time Mitchell was selected to an All-State team. He was Second Team in 2022 and Third Team last season. This year he averaged 14.9 points and 7.6 assists per game. The Gorillas went 20-6 this season and lost in the State consolation championship game.
Trevon Beckman Dell Rapids St. Mary, Junior Guard
Beckman averaged 20.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. The Cardinals went 18-5 this season and lost in the Class B SoDak 16.
Lane Tvedt – Castlewood, Senior Guard
This was Tvedts second All-State selection as he was on the Second Team last year. This year he averaged 15.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
Luke Koepsell Howard, Junior Forward
Koepsell averaged 15.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
Third Team
Parker Graff Wessington Springs, Sophomore Guard
Graff averaged 17.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He helped lead Wessington Springs to a 24-2 record and a consolation championship in the Class B State Tournament.
Aiden Lieber Mitchell Christian, Senior Guard
Lieber led Class B in scoring, averaging 29.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season. Mitchell Christian went 5-17 and lost in the Region 3B quarterfinals.
Joey Johnson Aberdeen Christian, Senior – Center
Johnson averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds per game this year. The Knights went 15-7 and lost in the Region 1B semifinals.
Kaydyn Fast De Smet, Senior Guard
Fast averaged 10 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game this season.
Brayden Sumption Leola/Frederick Area, Senior Guard
Sumption averaged 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game this year. The Titans went 22-4 and had an eighth place finish at State.
Trake Cowan – Highmore Harrold, Senior – Forward
Cowan averaged 19.5 points and 15.6 rebounds per game. He led the Pirates to a 13-10 record and they lost in the SoDak 16.
Cooper Feddersen – Jones County, Senior Forward/Center
Feddersen averaged 19.6 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game this season. The Coyotes went 14-8 this year and lost in the Region 7B semifinals.

Jacoby Mehrman Harrisburg, Senior Guard
This was the second All-State selection for Mehrman as he was on the All-State Second Team last season. He is the only repeat selection for Class AA. Mehrman averaged 17.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and has 56 steals this season. Harrisburg went 20-4 this season and finished third in the Class AA State Tournament.
Markus Talley Mitchell, Junior Guard
Talley averaged 16.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season. He helped lead the Kernels 23-1 record and their first state championship since 2005.
Josh Olthoff Brandon Valley, Senior Center
Olthoff averaged 12.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He led the Lynx to an 18-6 record and a runner-up finish in the State Tournament.
Braeden VanBockern – Harrisburg, Senior Guard
VanBockern averaged 16.1 points per game.
Blake Ellwien Huron, Sophomore Guard
Ellwein averaged 17.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Huron had a 14-10 record this year and came in seventh place at State.
Colton Smith Mitchell, Sophomore Forward/Guard
Smith averaged 18.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
Second Team
Gavin Soukup Mitchell, Senior Guard
Soukup averaged 12.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
Dylon Rawdon Watertown, Senior Guard
Rawdon averaged 14.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this year. The Arrows finished the season with a 14-10 record and lost in the State Tournament consolation championship.
Tommy Hoffman – Sioux Falls Washington, Junior Guard
Hoffman averaged 13.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game this year. He helped lead the Warriors to a 15-9 record and a fourth place finish at the State Tournament.
Ryan Heinert Sturgis, Junior Forward
Heinert averaged 19.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. The Scoopers had an 8-13 record this year and lost in the SoDak 16.
Dawson Sechser Sioux Falls Jefferson, Senior Guard
Sechser averaged 12 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. The Cavaliers went 14-10 this season and won the State consolation championship.
Hayden Goff Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Senior Guard
Goff averaged 13 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. The Rough Riders went 15-9 this year and came in eighth place in the State Tournament.
