BROOKINGS COUNTY An incident involving a newly planted tree being run over is under investigation by the Brookings County Sheriffs Office.
The incident, which caused an estimated $400 in damage, occurred northeast of Brookings at a residence on 473rd Avenue near 207th Street, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote in a Monday news release. It was reported Thursday at 8:28 a.m., and is thought to have occurred between 6 p.m. Wednesday and when it was reported.
Sebring wrote that, sometime overnight, an unknown party went onto the property of the residence and ran over the tree in the front yard.
