Coffeehouse tips go to Sleep in Heavenly Peace

BROOKINGS The Mission of the Month for March at the Mission Coffehouse at First Lutheran Church is Sleep In Heavenly Peace.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a registered 501c3 non-profit serving children in need. It was founded in Kimberly, Idaho, in 2012. SHP is the only charity providing hand-made bunk beds to children who dont have beds of their own. Not only does the organization deliver these beds to kids in need but it partners with organizations, churches, businesses and individuals to build them at events called Build Days.

With so many great charities providing clothing meals and toys, little help goes to something as permanent as providing suitable beds and bedding. SHP is a group of volunteers dedicated to finding those young children living without the luxury of sleeping on a bed or even laying their heads on a pillow. Through the wonderful efforts of volunteers and generous donations, bunk beds are built, assembled and delivered to those children who are otherwise sleeping on couches, blankets or even floors. Service time changed at First Presbyterian in Brookings

BROOKINGS First Presbyterian Church of Brookings announces that worship services will be available at a new time on Sunday mornings.

The service began at 10 a.m. on March 3.

The church session and new pastors, Robby and Donna Flint, believe that this will support members of the church who, while still active, live in facilities that serve lunch at 11:30. The time change will permit these members to attend worship services and remain connected with their friends at church, but also be able to eat lunch at home.

The church is at 405 Seventh Ave. and worship services are also available on Zoom, accessible through its website at brookingspresbyterian.org.
