BROOKINGS The annual fundraising gala benefitting Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity is coming to the Dacotah Bank Center on April 6.
Nail the Runway, sponsored by Brookings Home Team powered by Century 21 Krogman & Co., provides attendees with an evening of food, fashion and fun with a twist: Runway outfits are made primarily from construction materials.
This really is a uniquely fun event to attend, resource development director and event emcee Randy Grimsley said. Not only does it showcase some pretty creative local skills, it also raises funds to help build Habitat homes in our area each year.
Nail the Runway attendees enjoy dinner and entertainment in the form of the unique fashion show. Local designers and models showcase their creativity as they construct garments from items such as window screens, house wrap and duct tape.
There is also auction April 1-7 that is open to the public, even if they cannot attend the event. However, some select items are reserved for a live auction that will only take place during the Runway show.
Area businesses and individuals really step up to the plate with auction donations, Grimsley said. From practical items like furnace inspections and oil changes to fun options like private flights over town, collectibles, dcor and more, theres a range of items everyone can bid on. Additionally, we have some items like an entire 1920s mahogany dining room set or a private party at an award-winning restaurant scheduled for live auction and only for attendees of the event.
Tickets are on sale now by clicking the Nail the Runway tab at www.BrookingsHabitat.org. Advance tickets are encouraged, due to limited seating. Online auction items can also be found there beginning April 1.
The event begins April 6 at 6pm at the Dacotah Bank Center with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner, the runway program and live auction.
