BROOKINGS A hit-and-run incident on Friday in Brookings that caused an estimated $2,050 in damage is being investigated by the Brookings County Sheriffs Office.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Main Avenue South and 32nd Street South between 4:40 and 4:45 p.m., Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote in a Monday news release. It involved a 2014 Chevy Impala and a vehicle described as a red, two-door pickup with a black flatbed trailer.
The Impala had stopped for the northbound stop sign on Main Avenue South when the pickup pulling the flatbed trailer attempted to turn south from the westbound 32nd Street South stop sign, Sebring wrote. While turning, the two vehicles collided, damaging the Impala, and the pickup did not stop.
