BROOKINGS Sporting events tend to bring like-minded people together think Jackrabbit, Bobcat and Cossack fans cheering on their respective teams and it was just such events that might have played a role in bringing a new business to Brookings.
I have visited Brookings for sporting events with my family and was very impressed with what a great community it is, Jarid Lundeen, owner of the newly opened Valvoline Instant Oil Change, said in an interview with the Brookings Register. It has a lot of fun energy and I have really enjoyed my trips there.
His business, found at 1019 Sixth St., specializes in, you guessed it, oil changes and quick ones, too.
We offer a full-service oil change from certified technicians in about 15 minutes while our customers get to stay in their car, Lundeen said. We include a free 18-point maintenance inspection. We review and offer manufacturer-recommended maintenance services as well as offer tire rotations, batteries, air filters and more.

I am excited to offer professional employment opportunities that help my team members grow, he said. It has afforded two of my current team members to advance their careers by moving to Brookings and becoming our store manager and assistant manager. We have (also) added a lot of local Brookings talent to our team.
Lundeen is a graduate of Minot (N.D.) State University, where he earned a degree in business management and, initially, went into banking. He changed course later down the road.
I had the opportunity in 2000 to join a tire and automotive repair business, formerly known as Tires Plus Total Car Care, in Minot as an owner, he said, adding that it was recently rebranded as Trusted Tire & Auto and has four locations in North Dakota.
Beyond that, he said, in 2007 he added the quick-lube service to his existing tire and automotive repair businesses.
As we grew, I joined the Valvoline Instant Oil Change franchise system. I have grown my Valvoline business to eight locations in North Dakota and South Dakota, Lundeen said. We opened a location in Huron last summer and are excited to join the Brookings community.
