Wreck seriously damages home in White

WHITE An early morning wreck where a a pickup struck a house on North Hooker Avenue in White led to a DUI charge against the driver and an estimated $150,000 worth of damage to the home, according to a release from the Brookings County Sheriffs Office.

Sheriffs deputies and the White Fire Department responded to a call about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, per the release, to find a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 had left the road and struck a house at a high rate of speed.

The truck hit the home hard enough to move the entire building off its foundation and severely damaged the house as well as destroyed many items inside.

The three occupants of the truck were taken to Brookings Health System by a private party, the release said, and the driver, 19-year-old Justin Granum of Brookings, was arrested for DUI, no insurance, reckless driving, open container and underage possession of alcohol.
