PIERRE The Estelline/Hendricks gymnastics team won its second straight state championship on Feb. 10 as the Redhawks came in first place in Class A.
The Redhawks had a total score of 142.596. Madison came in second (138.911) and Hot Springs finished in third (138.911).
Estelline/Hendricks had a team score of 36.416 in the vault and a score of 33.599 on the uneven bars. The Redhawks scored 36.349 on the beam and 36.232 on the floor.
Sadie Johnson won the all-around with a score of 9.833. Johnson came in first in the vault (9.783), the floor exercise (9.833) and the balance beam (9.483). She came in third in the uneven bars (8.883).
Portia Trias came in second on the bars with a score of 8.983. Jaylee Berwald tied for 12th (8.216) and Maggie Hausman came in 24th (7.816). Payge Ebbers rounded things out for the Redhawks on the bars, coming in 27th (7.516).
Trias came in fourth in the balance beam with a score of 9.216) and Berwa,d came in sixth (9.183). Ebbers came in 23rd (8.223) and Sierra Kreger tied for 33rd (7.550). Hausman finished in 37th (7.183).
Kenzy Beare finished tied for sixth in the vault with a score of 9.050. Hausman tied for 11th (8.900) and Sierra Kreger tied for 14th (8.900). Ebbers came in 16th and Jadyn Mack tied for 22nd (8.633).
Ebbers and Kreger tied for 11th in the floor exercise (8.983). Berwarld came in 16th (8.883) and Trias came in 21st (8.783). Hausman finished in 29th (8.516).
Class AA
The Brookings gymnastics team came in fifth place in Class AA. The Bobcats had a team score of 139.380. Mitchell came in first place with a score of 151.444. Harrisburg came in second (149.995), OGorman came in third (140.512) and Watertown finished in fourth (140.495).
The Bobcats had a score of 35.316 on the vault and 33.349 on the bars. They had a score of 35.149 on the beam and 35.566 on the floor.
Delilah Fuls was the top finisher for the Bobcats in the all around and she had a total score of 35.148 to come in 11th place. Fuls tied for fourth in the vault with a score of 9.416 and eighth in the floor exercise as she had a score of 9.533. She finished in 30th on the balance beam (8.383) Fuls came in 33rd on the bars (7.816).
Lexi Norgaard came in 12th in the uneven bars (8.666) and Ava Petterson finished in 18th (8.333). Amber Brockberg came in 22nd in the balance beam (8.700) and Norgaard was right behind her, coming in 23rd (8.663). Brockberg tied for 20th in the floor exercise (9.216) and Kennedy Ronning tied for 24th (8.966). Petterson tied for 28th on the floor (8.866).
