MADISON, Wisc. The Rangers took home third place as they took part in the Can/Am Youth Tournament from January 26-28. Brookings went 2-2 at the tournament, picking up a pair of wins over the St. Louis Lady Cyclones.

The Rangers opened the tournament with a shutout loss to Elmbrook on Friday afternoon.
Malaina Zastrow scored twice for the Eagles while Evelyn Apps scored the other goal in the first period.
Avery Dentlinger made the start for Brookings and made 20 saves.
Brookings 3, St. Louis 0
The Rangers rebounded to pick up a win over the Lady Cyclones on Saturday morning.
Ashton Otteson led the way for Brookings, putting the Rangers on the board with an unassisted goal at 9:29 of the first period and adding a second unassisted goal at 4:18 of the third period. Brooke Kruse added the other goal for the Rangers, scoring unassisted at 2:24 of the third period.
Dentlinger made the start for the Rangers and made 18 saves. Brookings out-shot St. Louis 25-18.
Green Bay 5, Brookings 0
The Bobcats shut out the Rangers in their third game of the tournament on Saturday afternoon, scoring three times in the first period and twice in the second period to earn the victory.
Dentlinger made the start for the Rangers and made 31 saves. Brookings was out-shot by Green Bay 36-6.
Brookings 3, St. Louis 0
The Rangers finished the tournament strong, defeating the Lady Cyclones 3-0 in the third-place game on Sunday morning.
Otteson scored an unassisted goal to put the Rangers on the board at 8:45 of the first period before Kahlei Foerster doubled the lead with assists from Katie Vandersnick and Audrey Andal at 7:55 of the second period.
Khloe Ziegeldorf added the final goal for the Rangers from Vandersnick 30 seconds into the third period.
Dentlinger made eight saves for the shutout as the Rangers out-shot St. Louis 32-8.
BOYS JV
The Rangers dropped a pair of games to Sioux Falls teams as they fell to Sioux Falls East at the First Bank & Trust Rank at the Larson Ice Center on Friday night and the Sioux Falls West at the BISA Arena in Sioux Falls on Saturday night.
Sioux Falls East 4, Brookings 1
BROOKINGS Daylen Gibson opened the scoring for the Flyers with a power play goal from Owen Schser at 9:50 of the first period. The Rangers answered with Andrew Hahns goal from Parker Nielsen at 16:07 of the first period but Sioux Falls East took the lead back for good with Gibsons second power play goal from Marc Ryckman at 8:25 of the second period.
Teigan Webb scored from Anders Holte and Blaine Heitmann at 7:26 and Sechser scored from Paxton Meyer at 15:16 to conclude the scoring for the Flyers in the third period.
Ryder Anderson made 22 saves in the loss as the Rangers were out-shot 28-26. Brookings went 0-for-4 on the power play while Sioux Falls East converted both of their opportunities.
Sioux Falls West 6, Brookings 1
SIOUX FALLS Jackson Breuer scored twice and added a pair of assists to lead the Flyers over the Rangers on Saturday night.
The Flyers scored once in the first period, three times in the second period and twice in the third period to come away with the win but Cody Jacobson was the lone bright spot for Brookings, scoring an unassisted goal at 1:53 of the third period.
Paxtyn Portoff made 14 saves for the Rangers, who out-shot the Flyers 31-20.
Brookings went 1-for-7 on the power play while the Flyers converted their lone power play opportunity.
BANTAM A
Brookings 9, Yankton 0
YANKTON The Rangers picked up a shutout in their lone weekend game, blanking the Miracle on Sunday night.
Brookings scored three times in the first period, twice in the second period and four times in the fourth period to come away with the win.
Maxten Jensen led the way for Brookings, scoring four goals and adding an assist while Carson Kludt recorded a hat trick in the win.
Jason Ready and Mason Diers had three assists each while Atwood Ahmann and Un-hyeng Keay had two assists. Jack Lovseth scored a goal and an assist while Cade Zweber scored a goal. Mauer Bartley had an assist in the win.
Neil Trygstad made nine saves for the Rangers, who out-shot the Miracle 39-9. Brookings went 1-for-2 on the power play while the Miracle did not convert their lone opportunity with the man advantage.
BANTAM B
Brookings 6, Mitchell 0
BROOKINGS The Rangers won their lone game of the weekend, shutting out the Marlins 6-0 at the First Bank & Trust Rink at the Larson Ice Center on Saturday evening.
Thatcher Haselhorst scored twice in the first period to set the tone, scoring an unassisted goal at 5:28 of the first period and a second goal from Colt Vanmaanen at 9:01 of the first period. Vanmaanen extended the lead with an unassisted goal 71 seconds into the second period before Ty Harris scored from Vanmaanen and Maxx Anderson at 11:25 of the second period and Hovelson scored an unassisted goal at 14:02 to give Brookings a 5-0 lead.
Jeremiah Hovey added a power play goal from Vanmaanen and Colin Jacobson at 4:05 of the third period to cap the scoring for Brookings.
Jon Drew made the start for the Rangers and made 11 saves. The Rangers out-shot the Marlins 23-11 and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Marlins did not convert their lone power play opportunity.
PEEWEE A
The Rangers picked up a pair of wins on the road, defeating Aberdeen on Saturday and Huron on Sunday.
Brookings 6, Aberdeen 3
ABERDEEN Weston Diers opened the scoring for the Rangers with a goal from Luke Luvaas at 6:44 of the first period. Jasper Pitts doubled the lead with assists from Kallen Serfling and Blaine Zweber at 1:50 of the second period before Diers scored his second goal of the game from Luvaas to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead at 6:07 of the second period.
Graham Gerlach added an unassisted goal at 10:50 of the second period before Diers completed the hat trick with an unassisted goal 56 seconds into the third period. Teagan Jensen scored on Luvaass third assist of the game to cap the scoring at 9:11 of the third period.
Isaac Haufschild started at goalie for Brookings and made 18 saves. The Rangers out-shot the Cougars 23-21.
Brookings 12, Huron 1
HURON Diers had two goals and two assists and Jensen had a hat trick and an assist in a win over Huron on Sunday.
Coy Friedrich had a pair of goals and an assist in the win while Pitts recorded four assists. Gerlach had two goals while Ahmann had a goal and an assist.
Thor Zell had two assists while Serfling, Zweber and Luvaas each had one assist. Owen Rounds also scored one goal in the win for the Rangers.
Warner Carroll started for the Rangers and made 10 saves while the Rangers out-shot Huron 31-11.
PEEWEE B
The Rangers split a pair of games over the weekend, defeating Yankton on Friday but falling to Aberdeen on Saturday.
Brookings 8, Yankton 2
Gavin Zweibahmer had a hat trick and Deacon Trumbo added three assists to lead the Rangers over Yankton on Friday afternoon.
Jacob Myhre had a goal and an assist while Liam Diercks and Spencer Lovseth both had two assists. Brayden Brintnall, Jackson Hahn, Adrian Almhjeld and Branch Otteson all had goals in the win while Pierson Rohl recorded an assist.
Porter Vanderbush had 10 saves in the win. The Rangers out-shot the Miracle 34-10.
Aberdeen 4, Brookings 3 (OT)
Zweibahmer opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 30 seconds into the game for the Rangers while Myhre scored on an unassisted goal with 13:44 left in the second period. Rohl scored a shorthanded goal from Jackson Hahn with 3:08 left in the second period and Lovseth scored with an assist from Myhre with 3:02 left in the third period.
Brintnall made 26 saves for the Rangers, who were out-shot by Aberdeen 30-9.
SQUIRT BLUE
ABERDEEN The Rangers went 3-1 in four games in Aberdeen, playing two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday.
Aberdeen 5, Brookings 2
Hunter Vincent opened the scoring for the Rangers with an unassisted goal at 4:32 of the first period and Avery Swisher scored another unassisted goal with 3:21 left in the second period.
Sarantis Theodosopoulos made eight saves for the Rangers. Brookings was out-shot 13-11.
Brookings 8, Sioux Center 4
The Rangers bounced back in their second game, defeating the Storm on Saturday afternoon.
Swisher had a big game scoring three goals in the second period and adding three assists for a six-point game. Vincent had a goal and an assist while Graham Itterman scored twice. Otto Haslhorst and Xander Reeser also scored in the win.
Theodosopoulos had nine saves in the win. The Rangers out-shot the Storm 19-13.
Brookings 7, Huron 0
Vincent recorded a hat trick and Henry Dangel made nine saves to shut out the All Stars on Sunday morning.
Theodosopoulos, Rounds, Itterman and Maddox Chandler also scored in the win as the Rangers out-shot the All Stars 25-9.
Brookings 6, Watertown 1
Vincent scored four times to lead the Rangers over the Lakers on Sunday afternoon. Haselhorst and Liam Nelson also had goals for the Rangers while Reeser and Mason Nelson each had an assist in the win.
Dangel made 13 saves for Brookings, who out-shot the Lakers 25-14.
SQUIRT RED
RAPID CITY The Rangers split four games out west as they picked up wins over Yankton and Mitchell over the weekend.
Rushmore 8, Brookings 3
Knox Frericks scored twice while Joey Francisco had a goal and an assist in a loss to the Thunder on Saturday afternoon.
Nash Billings made 12 saves for the Rangers, who were out-shot 20-7 by the Thunder.
Brookings 6, Yankton 1
Frericks scored five times and Francisco added a goal as the Rangers defeated the Miracle on Saturday night.
Billings made 16 saves for the Rangers, who out-shot Yankton 26-17.
Rushmore 5, Brookings 3
Frericks had a goal and an assist while Francisco and Kennedy Hanson each scored a goal in a loss to the Thunder on Sunday morning.
Billings made 27 saves for the Rangers, who were out-shot by the Thunder 32-19.
Brookings 5, Mitchell 3
Frericks recorded a hat trick and Francisco scored twice as the Rangers defeated the Marlins on Sunday morning.
Billings made 15 saves for the Rangers, who out-shot the Marlins 27-18.
SQUIRT A
YANKTON The Rangers won all four games over the weekend, defeating Huron, Rushmore, Yankton and Sioux Center on Jan. 27 and 28.
The Rangers will take part in the Willmar Tournament, which begins on Friday.
Brookings 6, Huron 1
Elliott Ahmann had two goals and three assists and Ryker Schumacher had a goal and two assists to lead the Rangers over Huron on Saturday afternoon.
Max Harris had two goals and an assist and Sutton Jensen scored twice while Cooper Hyde and Kaden Ziegeldorf each had two assists.
Finn Konechne had three saves in the win. Brookings out-shot Huron 41-4.
Brookings 9, Rushmore 0
Jensen and Ziegeldorf each had hat tricks and Ahmann had a goal and two assists to help the Rangers defeat Rushmore on Saturday afternoon.
Hendrix Schmeichel had two assists while Cooper Hyde and Schumacher each had a goal in the win. Harris and Theo Treml each had an assist.
Juke Anderson made nine saves for the shutout. The Rangers out-shot the Thunder 40-9.
Brookings 8, Yankton 0
Jensen recorded a hat trick and Schumacher had a pair of goals to lead the Rangers over Yankton on Sunday morning.
Hyde and Ziegeldorf both had a goal and an assist in the win while Harris, Schmeichel and Colton Hendricks each had an assist.
Anderson made four saves for the shutout as the Rangers out-shot the Miracle 31-4.
Brookings 10, Sioux Center 3
Ziegeldorf had a hat trick and an assist and Schumacher scored twice and added two assists to lead the Rangers over the Storm on Sunday afternoon.
Hyde had two goals and an assist and Anderson scored twice. Ahmann also had a goal while Hendricks and Jensen each had an assist.
Konechne had five saves in the win as the Rangers out-shot the Storm 50-8.
