BROOKINGS Brookings Area United Way surpassed its 2023 fundraising goal of $950,000 by raising $1,000,520. Funds from the campaign will support 40 agencies and 55 programs in Brookings County.
Brookings Area United Way has helped support local nonprofit organizations in Brookings County for over 75 years. Brookings Area United Way and their funded partners work to respond to urgent needs and work to implement proactive programs focused on education, health, and self-sufficiency.
Our community came together because we understand how important these programs are. With our network, internal programs, initiatives, and community collaborations, we can directly impact one out of three people in our county, said Heidi Gullickson, executive director of Brookings Area United Way.
The campaign focused on creating hope in Brookings County. Creating hope happens by coming together as a community and supporting the neighbor who needs it. Brookings Area United Way and their funded partners strive to provide support in mental health, economic hardship, food insecurity, housing, early education, and so much more.
We are very thankful to every single person who donated. Without the generosity of our donors and the businesses that could contribute or match, we would not be able to continue our mission or support the mission of our funded partners. Hope happens when we live united, which is evident here in Brookings County, Gullickson said.
