MITCHELL The Brookings wrestling teams went 5-0 in a quadrangular in Mitchell on Thursday night. The Bobcats beat Madison, Mitchell and Sioux Falls Jefferson.
Boys
Brookings 40, Madison 39
Brookings won seven of the 13 matches. Tate Helmbolt picked up the first win for the Bobcats as he pinned Carter Downs in 2:41 in the 113-pound weight class. Nolan Miles won via forfeit at 132 and Mason Mathis picked up a 8-3 decision over Justin Peters at 144.
Logan Straub pinned Tristen Dorhout at 157 in 2:37 and Blake Kannegieter pinned Tyan Braskamp in 57 seconds at 156. Gabriel Stern pinned Radley Barrick in 49 seconds at 175 and Joey Fitzpatrick pinned Adam Willis in 1:41 at 215.
Brookings 40, Sioux Falls Jefferson 29
Brookings won eight matches against the Cavaliers. Micah Stern, Tate Helmbolt and Jacob Milliron all won via forfeit.
Nolan Miles won a 13-2 major decision over Brady Kuhnert at 138 and Mason Mathis won a 6-5 decision over Benjamin Neilan at 144. Gabriel Stern pinned Sam Glesiah in 2:33 at 175 and Joey Fitzpatrick pinned Anneyso Ahmed in 45 seconds at 190. Dylan Reynolds closed out the dual with a 4-1 decision over Noah Duran at heavyweight.
Brookings 49, Mitchell 30
Tate Helmbolt picked up a win for Brookings at 113 points, defeating Mitchells Noah Bennett in a 12-2 decision. Levi Quam also picked up a win pinning Dax Gukeisen in 2:16 at 126 pounds.
Nolan Miles pinned Amari Wright in 1:49 at 138 pounds and Mason Mathis pinned Trell Kaup in 1:35 at 144 pounds.
James Fitzpatrick pinned Oscar Luque in 1:43 at 150 pounds, Blake Kannegieter earned a 15-13 decision over Kaiden Allen at 165 pounds and Joey Fitzpatrick pinned Connor Degen in 1:13 at 190 pounds.
Logan Straub (157 pounds) and Gabriel Stern (175 pounds) won by forfeit.
Sirius Harming also won a 120-pound exhibition match, pinning Stratton Van Overschelde in 1:50.
Girls
Brookings 30, Madison 12
Lily Toft won the first match for the Brookings and she pinned Makayla Schardin in 2:21 at 107. Bailey Tekrony then pinned Capri Johnson in 2:26 at 114. Cierra Strand pinned Lexis Moe in 1:23 at 138 and Maizy Mathis pinned AZiyah Meredith in 3:01 at 165. Johanna Steinlicht won via forfeit at 145.
Brookings 30, Mitchell 18
Lilly Toft pinned Allyson Tiberg in 59 seconds at 107 pounds. Cierra Strand pinned Tiana Benton in 1:14 at 132 pounds and Maizy Mathis pinned Taylor DeJong in 1:56 at 165 pounds.
Ramsie Hinricher won by forfeit at 126 pounds and Johanna Steinlicht won by forfeit at 145 pounds.
Frankie Kranz pinned Bailey Tekrony in 1:50 at 114 pounds.
