High school basketball: Flandreau girls improve to 9-0, boys pick up two wins

The Flandreau girls basketball team improved to 9-0 on the season as the Fliers blew out both McCook Central/Montrose and Parker over the weekend.

The Flier boys improved to 8-4 as they blew out MCM and Parker as well.

The Flier girls host Madison on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. The boys host Garretson on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Friday

Flandreau 60, McCook Central/Montrose 18

SALEM It was all Fliers on Friday night from start to finish. Flandreau led 20-6 at the end of the first quarter and took a 37-9 lead into halftime. The Fliers gave up nine points again in the second half and scored 23 points of their own to get the blow out win.

Flandreau shot 35.6% from the field and was 6-of-18 from three. The Fliers were led by Lily Klein who had 20 points, four assists and three steals. Lizzie Pavlis had 15 points, nine rebounds and six steals. Claire Sheppard had 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

Saturday

Flandreau 66, Parker 21

FLANDREAU The Fliers used another strong first half to pull away from their opponent. They led 17-9 at the end of the first quarter and had a 41-13 lead at halftime. Flandreau extended the lead to 63-18 at the end of the third and that led to a 66-21 final.

Flandreau shot 52.8% from the field and was 5-of-17 from three. Claire Sheppard led the Fliers with 16 points, six assists and four steals. Morgan Sheppard, Lizzie Pavlis and Sadie Iott each had 12 points. Morgan Sheppard had four assists and Pavlis had two steals.

BOYS

Friday

Flandreau 61, McCook Central/Montrose 38

SALEM The Fliers jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first quarter and then took a 30-21 lead into halftime. They then led 46-31 at the end of the third and that allowed them to cruise to the victory.

Flandreau shot 60% from the field and were 5-of-14 from three.

Flandreau was led by Luke Sheppard who had 21 points. Paul Parsley had 16 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Mason Sabers led MCM with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Saturday

Flandreau 60, Parker 34

FLANDREAU The Fliers used a strong second half to get the win on Saturday. They led 22-15 at halftime and then stretched the lead to 46-25 at the end of the third. They outscored the Cougars 14-9 in the final frame secure the victory.

Flandreau shot 50% from the field and was 7-of-21 from three. Luke Sheppard led the Fliers again and he had 22 points, five rebounds and two steals. Parsley had 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.
