The Arlington American Legion Auxiliary is celebrating a 75-year membership.
Verlie Madsen joined the Arlington American Legion Auxiliary Unit 42 in 1948. Verlie is a member because of, her husband Clares service during World War II. The post World War II years were fun and busy times at Post 42. It was also a special time for this generation era to enjoy the freedom that they and their families had worked and sacrificed for. Verlie was a very active member. She served as president of the auxiliary and many other offices. Her daughters and granddaughters are members of Unit 42 as well. Verlie was active in the Arlington community as well, as she is a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
A quote from Kristi, her daughter, Verlie always loved being a member of the Auxiliary! She was ready to help with anything and everything. She was committed to both the Legion and the Auxiliary! The organization was a huge part of her life along with my Dads involvement! I remember when they went to the National American Legion Convention in Hawaii along with other legion friends. They had so much fun. Back then, it was a huge trip to travel so far!
Auxiliary members gave a huge thank you to Verlie Madsen for all of her 75 years of service to the Arlington American Legion Unit 42, South Dakota.
In a release they said, We appreciate your commitment, sense of fun and hard work you brought to the auxiliary table.
