Shop fire causes $300,000 damage northeast of Arlington

BROOKINGS COUNTY A blaze at a business in rural Brookings County on Friday resulted in an estimated total damage of $300,000.

The incident occurred at a site northeast of Arlington at 455th Avenue near 204th Street, according to a Tuesday news release from the Brookings County Sheriffs Office. It was reported at 5:09 p.m.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote the shop at the business contained a 2000 Kenworth W900, many tools, vehicles and shop equipment. The fire was extinguished by crews at the scene and the cause remains unknown, he added. Structural damage was estimated at approximately $100,000, with another estimated $200,000 in damage to trucks and equipment.

This incident remains under investigation by the sheriffs office.
