High school wrestling: Sioux Valley takes part in Deuel quadrangular

DEUEL The Sioux Valley Cossacks had a busy Thursday night, taking part in a quadrangular with Hamlin/Castlewood, Clark/Willow Lake and Deuel/Deubrook Area.

The Cossacks lost to Hamlin/Castlewood 36-30, Deuel/Deubrook Area 59-15 and Clark Willow Lake 66-15.

The Cossacks will return to action during a quadrangular in Arlington on Jan. 19.

Hamlin/Castlewood 36, Sioux Valley 30

Sioux Valleys Vanden Virchow was pinned by Hamlin/Castlewoods Tate Everson in 1:08 at 144 pounds. Luke Johnson of the Cossacks was also pinned by H/Cs Guillermo Cruz in 4:54 at 190 pounds.

Clark/Willow Lake 66, Sioux Valley 15

Tate Steffenson picked up a win for Sioux Valley with a 17-0 technical fall against Logan Foster at 132 pounds. Wyatt Hardt pinned Matt Batchelor in 2:30 at 150 pounds and Owen Vandeweerd won a 13-0 major decision over Jerome Enboden at 285 pounds.

C/WLs Austin Vig pinned Sioux Valleys Vaden Virchow in 1:32 at 138 pounds and Lincoln Reidburn pinned Harvey Hardt in 1:31 at 165 pounds. Kosh Kannegieter also pinned Luke Johnson in 54 seconds at 190 pounds.

Deuel/Deubrook Area 59, Sioux Valley 15

Steffensen earned a 15-0 technical fall over Dominic Kluckman at 132 pounds. Hardt also earned a 16-0 tech fall in his win over Hayden Cooper at 150 pounds. Vandeweerd picked up the third victory for Sioux Valley with a 16-1 tech fall over Allen Wetz.

Zane Miller pinned Virchow in 41 seconds at 138 pound and Sam Leen pinned Luke Johnson in 44 seconds at 190 pounds.
