HURON The Brookings Bobcats picked up a sweep against Huron as the girls wrestling team defeated the Tigers 42-18 and the boys wrestling team won 47-25 on Tuesday night.
The Bobcats will return to action when they host Brandon Valley on Jan. 16.
Girls
The Bobcats fell behind early when Naw Htoo Ywe pinned Claire Milliron at 1:26 of their 100-pound match but the Bobcats picked up six points in each of the next seven weight classes to break the dual open.
Bailey TeKrony pinned Kpaw Paw in 1:25 at 107 pounds. Lily Toft pinned Aleshka Oyola-Rodriquez in 2:46 at 114 pounds before MaKenna Hudy won by forfeit at 120 points. Ramsie Hinricher pinned Kmui Paw in 3:35 at 126 pounds and Cierre Strand pinned Say Glay in 2:23 at 132 pounds.
Johanna Steinlicht pinned Kayeleigh Bowden in 33 seconds at 145 pounds before Maizy Mathis won by forfeit at 165 pounds.
Hurons Paola Fernandez won by forfeit at 185 pounds and Kaitlyn Florey won by forfeit at 250 pounds to cap the dual.
Boys
Micah Stern led off the dual with a 7-2 decision over Carter Nelson at 106 pounds before Tate Helmbolt pinned Ryder Siedschlag in 1:50 at 113 pounds.
Jacob Milliron earned a 12-10 decision over Crayton Siedschlag to give Brookings a 12-0 lead before Brady Meyer earned a 10-8 decision over Levi Quam at 126 pounds to put Huron on the board.
The Bobcats scored bonus points in five of their next six matches to pull away beginning with Sawyer Johnsons victory by forfeit at 132 pounds.
Nolan Miles earned a 19-3 technical fall over Teagan Lien at 138 pounds and Mason Mathis pinned Aiden Zavesky in 3:50 at 144 pounds before Moses Gross pinned James Fitzpatrick in 1:25 at 150 pounds.
Logan Straub pinned Griffin Storm in 1:13 at 157 pounds and Blake Kannegieter pinned Tyler Cronin in 33 seconds at 165 pounds to give Brookings a 41-9 lead before Shar Ler Moo Ser earned an 18-10 major decision over Zach Hagemann at 175 pounds.
Joey Fitzpatrick won by forfeit at 190 pounds before Bryan Ramirez pinned Carson Loehr in 36 seconds at 215 pounds and Hser Wah pinned Dylan Reynolds in 4:34 at 285 pounds.
