BROOKINGS Luke Honkomp and Owen Schneider recorded four points each and Talon Hyde and Jacob Kahle netted two goals apiece as the Brookings Rangers improved to 7-0 with a 10-1 win over the Huron All-Stars at the First Bank & Trust Rink in the Larson Ice Center on Saturday night.
The Rangers win was paced by a six-goal first period that began when Kahle scored 32 seconds into the game with an assist from Schneider. Jackson Heller scored with assists from David Brink and Jay Harris at 1:57 of the first period and Andrew Hahn scored with assists from Honkomp and Schneider to put Brookings up 3-0 at 5:51.
Honkomp scored a goal from Jack Merrit to extend the lead at 7:44 of the first period and Cooper Deatherage added a goal from Merritt and Linstad at 15:44 of the first period before Kahle scored his second goal of the game from Schneider and Brink at 16:43 of the first period.
Ethan Busch put Huron on the board with an unassisted goal at 3:32 of the second period but Hyde answered with a goal from Kahle and Brink at 6:04 of the second period.
Schneider scored a power play goal from Linstad and Honkomp at 16:32 of the second period to give the Rangers an 8-1 lead at the second intermission. Hyde scored his second goal of the game from Honkomp and Linstad to give Brookings a 9-1 lead at 2:56 of the third period and Jacob Law scored from Harris and Heller at 11:30 of the third period to cap the scoring.
Egan Jensen made six saves to earn the win for the Rangers, who out-shot the All-Stars 59-7. Brookings went 1-for-4 on the power play while Huron went 0-for-1 with the man advantage.
The Rangers will return to action when they host Brandon Valley at the First Bank & Trust Rink in the Larson Ice Center on Friday night.
