RUTLAND Colman-Egan used a big second quarter to defeat Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 78-43 on Friday night.
The Hawks led 19-13 after the first quarter before out-scoring the Raiders 28-12 in the second quarter to take a 47-25 lead into halftime. C-E continued to play well in the third quarter, holding ORR to just six points and extending the lead to 66-31. Both teams played to a 12-12 tie in the fourth quarter.
C-E had four juniors in double figures with Jace Mousel leading the way with 26 points and seven rebounds. Jackson Zwart worked his way around foul trouble early in the game to put up 17 points and seven rebounds and Jack Mousel added 11 points and eight rebounds. Christopher Lee also contributed with 10 points off the bench.
ORR outrebounded the Hawks 33-32 and C-E committed 10 turnovers while making 17-of-27 free throws.
The Hawks improved to 3-3 with the win and 2-1 in the Dakota Valley Conference with the win. C-E will host Bridgewater-Emery on Monday night.
ORR fell to 2-4 with the loss and will host James Valley Christian on Tuesday night.
