The Brookings Rangers split a pair of games last weekend as Brookings defeated Watertown 5-1 on Friday night and lost to Mitchell on Saturday.
The Rangers are now 4-4-0 on the season and will return to action when they face Oahe at the Brookings First Bank & Trust Rink in the Larson Ice Arena on Jan. 13.
Brookings 5, Watertown 1
BROOKINGS Kinzey Grendler started the scoring with an unassisted goal at 1:56 of the first period before Miyah Foerster and Anna Rasmussen added unassisted goals in the second period to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead.
Emma Schleusner put Watertown on the board with an assist from Gracelyn Webb at 16:20 of the second period but Abriana Petersons goal from Lorelei Koch at 6:30 of the third period and Sawyer Tripletts unassisted goal at 8:32 of the third period helped the Rangers come out on top.
Avery Dentlinger made 27 saves in goal for the Rangers. Brookings went 1-for-2 on the power play while Watertown went 0-for-1. The Rangers out-shot the Lakers 45-28.
Mitchell 3, Brookings 0
MITCHELL Makenna Tronnes put Mitchell on the board with a goal from Tristen Zimmer at 12:05 of the second period and Brynlee Sabers scored a pair of unassisted goals in the third period to give the Marlins the shutout victory.
Rorii Quam stopped 35 shots for the Rangers, who were out-shot by Mitchell 38-29. Mitchell went 0-for-3 on the power play while Brookings did not have an attempt.
