High school boys basketball: Iroquois/Lake Preston falls in overtime

LAKE PRESTON The Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks held an early lead but fell in overtime to the Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots on Tuesday night.

The Sharks jumped out to a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and went into halftime with a 20-17 lead. ILP held on with a 38-34 lead at the end of the third quarter but the Patriots sent the game into overtime tied at 54-54. Hitchcock-Tulare out-scored the Sharks 9-2 in the extra frame to earn the win.

Lucas Peskey led ILP with 15 points on the night while Josh McMasters had 10 points. Daunte Glanzer had nine points, Weston Woodcock had eight points and Ryne Greene had seven points.

Jackson Maynard led the Patriots with 22 points while Patrick Maynard had 20 points. Erik Salmen also had 15 points in the win.

ILP shot 44 percent in the win and committed 19 turnovers. H-T shot 42 percent and committed 16 turnovers.

The Sharks fell to 4-4 with the loss and will travel to Deubrook Area on Thursday night.
